Our Angus cows and calves are raised nature's way in the Colorado sunshine. They thrive under the blue sky in lush pastures of rich grass with clean water to drink. Being managed with the utmost care under humane conditions allows them to grow and mature slowly and naturally. The quality of your beef starts with our animals.
Angus cattle have been revered for their high quality beef since their importation to the United States from Scotland in the 1870's. Quality starts with genetics. The mother cows and our herd bulls are chosen for their superior high-marbling and tenderness genetics, the best in the world and are registered in the American Angus Association. All the calves are age and source verified and carry RFID (radio frequency identification) tags so they are traceable from birth to the consumer.
These cattle were born and raised here, have never been hungry or thirsty, but more importantly, they have NEVER EVER been given any growth hormones, steroids, or antibiotics. All are vaccinated against the major bovine diseases to prevent sickness. They are raised with utmost care and everyone working on the farm has completed the Animal Care Training course endorsed by the National Cattlemen's Beef Association and is Beef Quality Assurance (BQA) certified.
The calves are weaned at six months of age and kept in grass pastures until they are between 14 and 20 months when they are available as grass fed beef or brought in and supplemented on cracked corn for 85 to 100 days and fed free choice alfalfa and grass hay from our own fields. They are processed in a nearby USDA-inspected facility to ensure our customers their beef is being handled in a safe and healthy manner. Our beef is dry-aged 21 days under controlled temperatures and humidity to bring you superior quality that is consistently tender, moist, and flavorful. It is cut exactly to your specifications, vacuum packed or double wrapped in traditional freezer paper, and flash frozen. Each individual package lists the cut and weight of the meat inside and all packages carry the USDA stamp to show it was inspected for safety and wholesomeness.
It is true that raising cattle the old-fashioned way is slower and costs more, but we are sure you will think that the great flavor and the safety of our meat makes it a great value. All this produces the lean healthy beef with the remarkable flavor our cattle are known for along with an incredible natural moist tenderness, a truly premium quality product.
Our management practices benefit you and the cattle as well as the environment. Our entire 280 acres are in established pasture and hay. We use rotational grazing practices to protect and conserve soil and water resources. Cattle serve a valuable role in the ecosystem by converting the forages that humans cannot consume into a nutrient-dense food. Good management is not a choice, it is protection for our consumers and our future generations.
It is a long process from our pastures to your plate and we care about everything that happens along the way because it will affect the beef you eat. Let us share with you the best flavor of any meat you have ever tasted.
